Privacy

No accounts, no forms, no ads, and no tracking cookies. Your visit still leaves a few records; here is each one, who keeps it and why.

Updated

This page lists what is collected when you use Studio Cursor, who collects it and why.

The short version

  • You do not sign up for anything here, and there are no forms to fill in.
  • There are no cookies for tracking or advertising, and no advertising at all.
  • Your light or dark theme choice, and the cursor you are working on in the maker, are kept in your browser, not on our server.
  • We do not sell or share information about visitors.

Hosting and server logs

Studio Cursor is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver a page or a download, Cloudflare’s servers receive the same information every website receives with each request:

  • your IP address;
  • the page or file you asked for, and when;
  • your browser’s user agent string (browser, version and operating system);
  • the referring page, if your browser sends one;
  • an approximate location (country) worked out from the IP address.

Cloudflare uses this information to deliver the site, keep it fast and protect it from attacks and abuse, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We can see request statistics and, for a limited time, request logs when we need to fix a problem. We do not use them to identify or follow individual visitors, and we do not combine them with other data.

Our host may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it needs to tell real visitors from automated traffic. It is not used for advertising or tracking.

Visitor statistics

This site does not run an analytics script at the moment. If we add one, it will be Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies, and this page will say so, with the full list of what it records, before it starts.

Settings remembered in your browser

If you switch between the light and dark themes, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the name sc-theme, so the next page opens the way you left it.

The cursor maker keeps a copy of the cursor you are working on under the name sc-maker-draft: its pixels, frames, frame times and hotspot, the file name you typed, and the maker’s settings (colours, grid, scaling). That way your work is still there if you close the tab. The Start over button in the maker deletes it. The converters keep nothing.

Both stay in that browser on that device, and we cannot read them. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes them. If a tool here starts remembering anything else, it will keep it the same way and this page will list it.

Files you use in the maker and converters

The cursor maker and the converters open the files you choose in the browser tab you are using and build your download there. Your files are not sent to our server, there is no upload feature, and we keep no copy. The only thing kept is the maker’s draft described above, in your own browser. If that ever changes, this page will say so before it does.

What we do not do

  • No cookies for tracking or advertising.
  • No ads, ad networks or affiliate tracking.
  • No accounts, sign-up forms, newsletters or email.
  • No selling or sharing of visitor data.

Guides and reference pages link to other websites, such as MDN Web Docs, the CSS specification and browser bug trackers. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we have no control over what they collect.

Children

The site is a general-audience design tool and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.

Contact

We have not set up a contact address yet. When we do, it will be listed on this page, along with how we answer privacy questions.

Changes to this page

If what we collect changes, for example if we add a feature that needs an account, we will update this page first and change the date at the top.
